Joey Antonetti's Poetry

  • "Untitled"

Thou shalt shatter, into the vast innumerous stars, pieces as holes in heavens floor mine most fragile of vessels holding mine love for thee, broken beyond repair for all to see who gaze above to seek relief from their own broken hearts mine own sorrow spread across the night sky.

The depth of mine dearest held misery as endless and dark as the universe itself, as sure as deaths embrace, absent all warmth and brilliant color.

Thou hast imposed upon me this gift, that for not mine love for thee I could not know such emptiness and despair.

If one is to hold closer those thoughts of tragedy than those of joy all of my pain is transformed into memories of love that will endure all other tortures of life with a smile so truly I know only joy!

Bringest thou forth most dire of all consequence!  For I knoweth not fear, nothing to preserve since the destruction of mine naiveté innocence and love.

Thou hast removed from my ignorance illusions of purity, trust and beauty to be possessed hither and left me only with the heavens to offer such wonder for mine sodden eyes to, once again, behold.

Were it only wounds of the flesh I might cover them with fine silks to hide the stains left by your nefarious deeds, but thou were the most diabolical and sinister of mistresses to paint the sky with reminders of my tears, as brilliant as diamonds, glittering on black velvet.

Perchance I see such hard, cold deceptions as a gift and responsibility to impart and impose upon the world such knowledge and so to share mine own curse of obligation.  As fleeting and intangible as a ghost, as sweet as a siren, traumatization transformed into perceptions of peace.

    Every loss is a gain.
